FAQs
How does cremation work?
Cremation is a process that uses high temperatures, typically ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit, to reduce a deceased body to ashes. The process occurs in a specialized cremation chamber and usually takes 2-3 hours. The resulting cremated remains are then carefully collected and processed for return to the family.
Can I still have a funeral or memorial service with cremation?
Absolutely. Cremation does not eliminate the possibility of having a funeral or memorial service. Many families hold a service before or after the cremation, allowing friends and family to gather, share memories, and pay their respects. Additionally, cremated remains can be interred, scattered, or kept in a memorial urn. We offer an additional option for spreading at sea.
How much does cremation cost?
The cremation cost varies based on location, the funeral service provider, and any additional services or merchandise selected. On average, direct cremation (without a service or ceremony) tends to be more affordable than traditional burial. Requesting a detailed price breakdown from the funeral home is advisable to understand the specific costs involved.
Can I pre-plan or pre-pay for cremation services?
Many individuals choose to pre-plan or pre-pay for cremation services. Pre-planning allows you to make final arrangements in advance, specifying your preferences and relieving your loved ones of decision-making responsibilities. Pre-paying can secure current pricing, protecting against potential future cost increases. Working with a reputable funeral service provider and carefully reviewing the terms of any pre-arrangement or pre-payment plan is essential.
