Gert, as she was called by her family and friends, was Born on July 8, 1944, in El Dorado, Arkansas.  Gatha B. Allen was the fourth of five children born to the union of A. D. Allen and Tressie Mae Malone. Gert attended elementary school and Junior High School in Yuma Arizona and High School in Perris, California.

During her early years in Yuma, she and younger sister Jeanie were inseparable.  She loved the summertime when they had freedom to play with the neighborhood children; go to the nearby baseball field and walk to the downtown theater for Saturday matinees.  She was baptized at the age of 12 at the Second Baptist Church.

She met the love of her life in High School, Ronald Eugene Cook.  They were married and to that union, six children were born: Camellia Renee, Demetra Disaree, Eugenia Roshon, Hekema Lamar, Ronald Eugene Jr., and Maurice Leon.

Gert had a natural gift for doing Hair and Make-Up and she passed those talents along to her daughters.  Her main goal in life was being a Jehovah Witness and parenting her children and her grandchildren.

On Sunday, April 20, 2025, we celebrated her life as she peacefully went to rest with her loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and family at her side.

She was preceded in death by parents; A.D. Allen, and Tressie Mae Allen; brother  James “Sonny” Allen; sons Maurice Leon, and Ronald Eugene Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Camellia Renee, Demetra Disaree, Eugenia Roshon (Wesley) and Hekema Lamar; grandchildren: Kyieem  Kee’Shawn, Iran Deshon, Wendi Monique, Kamden Brian, Christopher Carlise, Jessica Lynn, Jumah Olajuwon, Egypt Tanzania, Alyessa Lynn, China Beauty, Darshay, Kieara Molena, great-grandchildren: Christopher Carlise Jr., Kyleen, and Kingslyn Semaj.  Sergio Jr., Ayanna Monique, Arianna Nevaeh, Amayah, Kaden Chauncey, Deshon Johnzair Lamoz; Sisters: Marie Phillips, Johnnie  Meeks (Roy), Jeanie James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
